The Chicago Bears have been without one of their dynamic weapons in running back Tarik Cohen, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 3 of last season.

While the hope was Cohen would be good to go for training camp, he started the summer of the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Back on Aug. 4, Bears head coach Matt Nagy said it would be weeks rather than days before Cohen would be ready to return from the PUP list. Three weeks later, we appear no closer to a possible timetable for his return.

“Physically, he is just going through all of his rehab,” Nagy said Monday when asked about Cohen. “He’s out there trying to stay as flexible as he can and running around doing different things with [head trainer Andre Tucker]. I’m not out there when he’s doing his stuff, so I don’t know the exact details of what he’s doing. He’s definitely progressing. I don’t have a timeline for him, but I do know that he’s in a good place, and I just appreciate that I know it’s been frustrating for him, but he’s working hard. Every day just try to keep working at it.”

At this point, the assumption is Cohen won’t be ready for Week 1, where he’s expected to start the year on injured reserve. Thankfully, the Bears have plenty of depth at running back, where Damien Williams and Khalil Herbert should see plenty of action.
