Bengals coach after Tee Higgins tag: ‘Let’s go and try and win a championship’

After the Cincinnati Bengals used their franchise tag on wide receiver Tee Higgins, there has been speculation about whether they are going to keep him around for the year, try to extend him or possibly trade him.

Bengals wide receivers coach Troy Walters was asked about Higgins and he said he would like to see the wideout back for a few more years.

Here’s more of what he had to say to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com: “Tee and Ja’Marr work so well together and complement each other. They love being around each other. Let’s go and try and win a championship. They complement each other on the field, off the field. In my eyes they’re both No. 1 receivers, but yet they play unselfishly and they care about each other. Hopefully, everything takes care of itself.”

Walters isn’t the only one who wants Higgins to be around for a few more years, but it’s yet to be seen whether they will be able to make that happen or not.

When director of player personnel Duke Tobin was asked about Higgins, he said he wanted to keep him, but didn’t shoot down the possibility of a trade either.

But if Higgins does take the field with the Bengals this season, Walters has some big goals for the team, shooting for a championship.
