Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle DJ Reader is signing a two-year deal with the Detroit Lions in free agency, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Ian Rapoport reported the deal is worth up to $27.25 million with over $9 million guaranteed.

With the Bengals’ best defensive tackle officially gone, they will now be looking to add a new one. Whether that will be through the draft or free agency is yet to be seen, but there are some good options through both avenues.

It was reported earlier on Thursday that the Bengals would be meeting with former Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans defensive tackle Teair Tart, and now that fit seems a little more likely.

Reader finishes his Bengals career with 123 tackles, 20 quarterback hits, three sacks and seven tackles for a loss in 44 games over four years.
