The Cincinnati Bengals are a team that sounds open to pretty much anything in the defensive secondary this offseason.

Might that include a massive splash on a No. 1 corner like L’Jarius Sneed of the Chiefs?

The Chiefs will hit Sneed with a tag and trade him if no long-term deal happens. And the Bengals are listed as one team that should consider such a trade by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, who notes that cap isn’t a question — it all comes down to compensation between rivals:

To convince Kansas City to play ball, the Bengals might have to offer their second-round selection (49th overall) instead of a third-rounder. Even at that price, though, acquiring Sneed would be worth it for a Cincinnati team with championship aspirations.

Don’t scoff too much at the idea — it could make sense for a team with an affinity for first-round corners that values the positions higher than most.

Adding Sneed’s elite play as the No. 1 corner across from Cam Taylor-Britt with former second-rounder DJ Turner inside and former first-rounder Dax Hill at safety and Jordan Battle at the other spot would be a pretty formidable long-term outlook for the secondary.

But of course, there’s that whole pesky rivalry with the Chiefs and the fact the Bengals don’t like to cough up premium assets. Even then, though, it’s impossible not to raise the Bengals as a team that would make sense.
