Maybe they’re getting the Virgil Carter vibes when it comes to late playoff runs with a backup quarterback. Carter, who steered the Bengals to the 1970 AFC Central title by winning the last seven games as the Bengals went from 1-6 to 8-6, went to the same Folsom High School in California that Jake Browning attended.

Bengals Roster Moves: QB Signed to Practice Squad, Chase Brown Designated To Return, Guard to Practice Squad/Injured List
Cleared HB Chase Brown to practice by designating him for return from the Reserve/Injured list. Brown, a rookie out of the University of Illinois, has been on the Reserve/Injured list since Oct. 28 with a hamstring injury. Today starts a 21-day period during which he may practice with the team without counting against the 53-player active roster. He is eligible to be activated to the roster at any time during that period.

New Bengals starting QB Jake Browning doesn’t lack for confidence
Browning is Cincinnati’s starting quarterback after Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury in Week 11. Before Burrow got hurt in Thursday night’s loss to the Ravens, Browning had thrown just one pass in a regular-season game in five seasons. But after years of preparing, he’s looking forward to his opportunity to show he can be a viable NFL quarterback.

Bosa was later seen using crutches with a walking boot on the sidelines.
