The Cincinnati Bengals had some minor roster moves go through on Tuesday as the team preps for its Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It was the San Francisco 49ers actually starting things for the Bengals by poaching running back Jacques Patrick off Cincinnati’s practice squad.

That opened up a spot on the practice squad for one of the three free-agent offensive linemen the Bengals worked out the same day:

  • OL Michal Menet
  • OL Mike Horton
  • OL Lamont Gaillard

The team ended up signing Gaillard, a player the team won on waivers back in July despite claims from other teams. He eventually got cut during cut-downs over the summer.

Patrick is actually a pretty big loss for a coaching staff that loved what he brought to the table. He would’ve been one of those guys they could bring up and give immediate reps. It says it all that the 49ers were willing to sign him to the 53.

As for the workouts, it’s not hard to see where they trend — the interior offensive line. It’s a major issue and clearly has the team’s attention right now.
