With starting right tackle Jonah Williams off to join the Arizona Cardinals, the Cincinnati Bengals have set up a visit with a key free agent.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway, the Bengals will host former New York Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton on a visit on Thursday.

Becton, the 11th pick in 2020, started at left tackle in New York but shifted to the right side and started 16 games last year, earning a 53.2 PFF grade.

With the tackle market depleted, Becton would be something of an affordable rehab project on the right side and if signed, wouldn’t prevent the Bengals from drafting a possible long-term solution as early as the first round.

Given how things have shaken out so far, the right tackle situation has transitioned into finding a stopgap at best. Becton will need to pass the medical evaluation from the team after playing in just one game in 2021 and missing all of 2022.
