Bengals will easily defeat Bears, predicts popular Chicago sports host

Joe Burrow will commit “felony” against the Bears’ secondary, says Scott Lewis.

The Chicago Bears are not a good team. Even their roster’s strength, the defense, is overhyped. That’s according to a hardcore fan of the team who also has a popular sports podcast.

Scott Lewis is the host of “I’m Not Gon Hold You,” a podcast on the Barber’s Chair Network and part of the HNB Media YouTube channel, which has nearly two million subscribers.

Lewis predicts that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will lead his team to a huge victory on Sunday. “The Bengals are going to win,” he said. “I’m going to say the score will be 34-21 Bengals [over Vikings].”

And the biggest reason Lewis thinks the Bengals will win is that the Bears’ secondary is nowhere near prepared for Cincinnati’s rising star of a QB. “I think Joe Burrow is going to have at least three touchdowns,” he said.

Lewis continued to call the Bears’ secondary “terrible” and lament that it “might be the worst in football.” He believes that they simply don’t have the athleticism to keep up with a wide receiver corps like Cincinnati’s. “They can make plays, it’s just they’re aging,” Lewis said. He also called out defensive back Eddie Jackson for failing to deliver on the field after saying that the other cornerbacks simply need to go for the ball.

“What Burrow’s going to do to the secondary is going to be a felony,” Lewis said. “He should be arrested at the Lakefront for what he’s about to do this Sunday. It’s gonna be nasty.”

Further, the defense overall is “overrated,” Lewis says. “I think a lot of people outside of Chicago think this defense is still good,” he said. “It has a lot of names, but it’s not really good anymore.”

But there are some potential bright spots for Chicago’s defense. Defensive lineman Eddie Goldman, who opted out of the 2020 season and missed the Bears’ Week One game because of injury, could play against Cincinnati. His potential return could revive a pass rushing unit that includes Akiem Hicks and Khalil Mack, both of whom disappointed against the Los Angeles Rams. “If there’s any game for the d-line to show me any type of life, it would be this one,” Lewis said.

Meanwhile, Lewis is not happy with how head coach Matt Nagy is handling the Bears’ quarterback situation. It should be mentioned that Lewis is far from an Andy Dalton hater. In fact, he didn’t even fully blame the quarterback for his endzone interception in the first quarter because Nagy’s decision to use two-quarterbacks threw both of them out of their rhythms. “I’m not mad at Andy Dalton,” Lewis said. “That would be like getting mad at a kid for dropping stuff. That’s just what kids do.”

Still, Lewis thinks the Bengals’ former franchise quarterback will struggle again and is eager to see rookie Justin Fields inserted as the full-time quarterback. “Your guy Dalton, he’s going to get booed to hell,” Lewis said. “[When he throws] that first incompletion, Soldier Field is going to go nuts, because this fanbase is on the edge.”
