It’s Sunday and you know what that means! That’s right… I totally forgot to do this column on Friday. Let’s answer some Jacksonville Jaguars questions!

Today we’re talking about Walker Little, two-back rotations, preseason playing time, and more!

Jesse from Pine Ridge, SD

Q: Do you think Walker Little will become a starter this season?

A: I do. Urban Meyer has taken every opportunity to praise the rookie and I think it’s just a matter of time before he cracks the starting five. Offensive line coach George Warhop uses that phrase a lot — the starting five. I think that Little could very well come in at left tackle if Cam Robinson falters, but it’s not impossible that his first NFL action is at guard where I think the quality of play is a little less.

Chris from St. Petersburg, FL

Q: With a possible two-back rotation, do you see the carries and catches being split similar to Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt? Or better yet, like Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew?

A: I think the Fred-MJD comparison is a much better way of thinking about it because the skill set of those two is so stark and obvious. Fred was obviously RB1 but MJD was third on the team in receptions in 2007 and they had nearly identical total yards. I think something around 1,100 yards from scrimmage from each — with Robinson leading — would be a very good start for these two.

Gorgon from Azkaban

Q: Which running back gets the most yards from scrimmage in 2021?

A: James Robinson.

Bryce from Jacksonville, FL

Q: With our receivers room “stacked” do you foresee us keeping seven receivers? After Tavon Austin and Laquon Treadwell’s performance in the preseason opener (and training camp hype) they have to be pushing for roster spots

A: I wouldn’t consider that position “stacked” by any means. It’s top-heavy, with DJ Chark, Laviska Shenault, and Marvin Jones, Jr. providing a good, solid top-three. But after that, it’s a bit concerning to me, honestly. I don’t think this team keeps four guys behind Chark, Shenault, and Jones. I think it’ll be Collin Johnson joining Austin and Treadwell on the first 53-man roster.

Cornelius from Jacksonville, FL

Q: How much will key offensive starters play against the New Orleans Saints?

A: Probably into the second quarter? Who knows… Urban Meyer is trolling all of us right now so he could sit every starter until the regular season opener. But if he’s traditional about it, I think we’ll see more time out of Trevor Lawrence, and possibly Walker Little and Travis Etienne getting more reps with the starters.

Ryan from St. Augustine, FL

Q: Do we keep three quarterbacks on the roster or is one of them cut/traded?

A: I think we keep two no matter who the backup is. If Gardner Minshew is traded, it’ll likely be C.J. Beathard. If he’s not traded, Minshew is QB2 and Beathard is cut.

Gabe from Chapel Hill, NC

Q: We’re still bad, right? Just checking.

A: We’re still bad until we’re not.

Tim from Ocala, FL

Q: Is it finally over? Have the disciples of Tim Tebow finally seen that he isn’t going to magically fix the Jaguars by being… Tim Tebow? Will I still have locals come up to me in their faded 2008 National Championship shirts and jorts, reeking of Natty Light, drunkenly insisting that only Tebow can save the Jaguars if given the chance? After a decade of unbridled stupidity, is it finally over?

A: I don’t think people in Florida will ever stop talking about Tebow. The next wave is just gonna be that he should join the team as a coach or a motivational speaker or something.
