The rookie makes some history in Week 18 against the Saints.

Bijan Robinson’s rookie season has had its lulls, but we’ve seen stretches where he’s looked like the sort of magician in cleats we all envisioned when the Atlanta Falcons drafted him eighth overall. In the final week of the season, Robinson made franchise history, and he did so while making a spectacular play.

Robinson came into the final game tied with William Andrews for the all-time franchise record for yards from scrimmage for a rookie, with exactly 1,332. With an additional game he figured to break that record easily, and he did so very early on. The huge touchdown catch and run in the first quarter just added to his yardage total, and it also gave him his eighth total touchdown of the year.

The game is still ongoing but Robinson has well over 1,400 yards from scrimmage now, with over 400 yards receiving and a chance to surpass 1,000 yards on the ground today. If his usage has frustrated Falcons fans and fantasy footballers alike at times and his production as a receiving option has been uneven, Robinson has authored some of the biggest plays of the season, shown a knack for sharp cuts and astonishing feats of athleticism, and seems destined to be the guy who is most fun to watch on this offense, taking the mantle from Julio Jones circa 2011-2020. His future is very bright, and the present has been impressive enough.

Congratulations to Robinson, and hopefully he continues to trample the Saints today.
