Allen vs. Mahomes, playoff style, comes to Orchard Park, NY

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers during NFL Super Wild Card Weekend to advance to the divisional round of the 2023 NFL Playoffs. For their efforts, the Bills will welcome the Kansas City Chiefs to Highmark Stadium, which will be the first road playoff game in quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ career.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST next Sunday, January 21, but you can be sure Bills Mafia is going to be ready and present far earlier than kickoff. Mahomes’ first road game will also represent the first opportunity for Bills fans to make life difficult for QB15 in welcoming him to Orchard Park, NY. The last time the Chiefs came to Western New York was during the COVID-19-altered season, when fans weren’t allowed to attend games.

The Bills and Chiefs met earlier this season, on December 12 — a game where Buffalo emerged victorious in a defensive battle that featured a much-discussed penalty. Though the headlines after that game had more to do with that late flag, the real story was the fantastic effort carried out by Buffalo’s defense to prevent Kansas City from gaining a first down, or even enough yards to get into field goal range and tie the score.

Next weekend is going to be one of the team’s biggest home playoff games in generations for Bills Mafia. You might have to travel all the way back to Joe Montana-led Kansas City Chiefs, who came to Rich Stadium for an AFC Championship Game date with a very motivated Buffalo Bills squad led by an unstoppable Thurman Thomas. That late January game featured a 203-yard, three touchdown day by Thomas and the offensive line, both of which carried the team all the way to their fourth Super Bowl appearance.

This week’s injury reports will be key documents to watch for, as the Bills suffered a tremendous amount of injuries in their win over the Steelers.
