The Baltimore Ravens have a prime opportunity to get better during the 2022 offseason. There are plenty of avenues that the team will certainly explore, including free agency, trades, and the draft.

Baltimore’s roster could look very different in 2022, in large part due to the amount of their own quality free agents that will hit the market in a few months. However, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report named Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell as a free agent to avoid during the 2022 offseason for other teams, citing that a return to Baltimore makes sense.

“Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell is a six-time Pro Bowler with 93.5 sacks. However, he’s also 35 years old and possibly contemplating retirement this offseason. A return to the Ravens could make sense because Campbell is happy to be a contributor in Baltimore.”

When explaining why other teams should be out on Campbell, Knox talked about his pass rushing prowess.

“Other teams should be out on Campbell in 2022, however. While still a capable run defender, he is not the potent pass-rusher he once was. Campbell finished the season with only 1.5 sacks and 16 quarterback pressures.”

Campbell started the 2021 season off strong, but in terms of his pass rushing only accumulated 1.5 sacks in 15 games. He would be welcome back to the Ravens with open arms, but it’s unclear what his market would be with outside suitors. He can still contribute to an NFL franchise, and any team would be lucky to have him. It’s just a matter of what teams are looking for, and also if Campbell even wants to continue playing football.
