The first-year head coach is already making waves.

Ever since the day Brandon Staley stepped in the team’s facility for his very first press conference as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, he’s done nothing but dazzle and impress.

Once the season began and Staley’s aggressive — not reckless — style of coaching was put on display, the entire country fell even more head-over-heels for the guy who is just five years removed from coaching at Division III John Carroll.

Six weeks into his first year at the helm of an NFL team, Staley has the Chargers at sitting at 4-2 and in first place in the AFC West. Besides being 5-1 or 6-0, you can’t ask for much more than that.

It’s for all these reasons and more that Brandon Staley is currently the front-runner for this year’s NFL Coach of the Year at +450, per DraftKings Sportsbook. Currently, Arizona’s Kliff Kingsbury (+700) and the Rams’ Sean McVay (+1000) are rounding out the top three.

While it’s great to see Staley leading the pack, does he truly deserve to be number one ahead of Kingsbury who is currently leading the only undefeated team left in the NFL? Does McVay also have a case to be made after leading the Rams to a 5-1 start? I believe both are true, but I believe Staley is getting the nod here due to him seemingly turning around the worse team according to last year’s results.

What do you all think? Agree or disagree with the current odds for NFL Coach of the year? Let us know in the comments below.
