The Chiefs’ general manager was mentioned among other GMs in this week’s Football Morning in America column.

With Peter King on his annual vacation before the beginning of the NFL season, sports commentator Michael Holley took the reins of his “Football Morning in America” column this week. Holley mentioned Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach by name in the “10 things I think” section.

3. I think Thomas Dimitroff is on to something big. The former Falcons general manager has now interviewed 15 GMs for an unfiltered TV show that he’s producing. The idea is to show aspects of the job — and the personalities behind it — that often go unseen/unexplained. Among the 15: Howie Roseman, Jason Licht, Mickey Loomis, and Brett Veach.

Thomas Dimitroff’s name should sound familiar, as he just ended his tenure as Atlanta Falcons general manager — a title he had held since 2008. The Falcons let Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn go after the team’s 0-5 start in 2020. It is also worth noting that former Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli worked as an assistant general manager under Dimitroff from 2014-2019.

We occasionally hear from the league’s general managers, but it is typically in the frame of local media asking current questions about the team. It sounds like Dimitroff’s idea is to delve into the day-to-day lives of the general managers themselves, which is perhaps a stone that has been left unturned in NFL coverage.

Veach, to his credit, is rather forthcoming when it comes to dealings with the media — so when Dimitroff’s project is finally unleashed, there may be something deeper to learn about the team’s personnel operations.
