Malik Reed is one of the better backup players on the Denver Bronco roster and might even be a starter on other NFL teams.

Malik Reed is a guy who is rounding into form as a real NFL pass-rushing force. He’s a guy that much like Noah Fant has the potential to have a really impressive season for the Broncos.

The Good

Malik Reed has some serious jets rushing from the outside. He’s shown the ability to attack from either side of the formation and really put the heat on opposing QBs. He uses both speed and power at times to generate pressure as a pass rusher.

He’s also really sharpened his run defense game showing a better understanding of leverage and position last season.

The Bad

Honestly, the worst thing for Malik Reed is that the roster has Von Miller and Bradley Chubb on it. He led the team in sacks last season. He’s turning into an OLB that has all the tools you want from a starter. Getting him on the field is going to be a challenge, though that seems to be something Vic Fangio should be able to make work.

Final Word

Malik Reed’s position as the #1 OLB backup to either side of the formation is already set in stone in my mind. He’s a real talent that the coaches have done a superb job in developing. Having a depth guy like Reed makes things very, very hard on opposing offenses as even if Von Miller needs to sit out a few plays, the pass rush will still be very potent.
