Broncos S Kareem Jackson’s suspension reduced to 2 games

Jackson injured Green Bay tight end Luke Musgrave in a penalized play on Sunday.

According to NFL Senior Vice President of Football and International Communications Michael Signora, Derrick Brooks, who was hearing out Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson’s appeal, has reduced the Broncos defensive back’s suspension from four games to two games. Jackson has been ejected from multiple games this season, which is why he was suspended for “violations of unnecessary roughness rules” following his second ejection of 2023 against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Jackson hit Packers tight end Luke Musgrave in the head/neck area during the action, leading to Musgrave leaving the field with an ankle injury in Week 7. From there, Jackson was ejected from the game and later suspended by the league.

The initial ruling of Jackson’s case came in front of NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan, who just so happens to be the father of Packers guard Jon Runyan Jr. This was the statement that the elder Runyan made at the time of his four-game ruling:

On the play in question, you delivered a forceful blow to the head/neck area of a defenseless receiver, when you had the time and space to avoid such contact. You could have made contact with your opponent within the rules, yet you chose not to.

On Monday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur did not give any injury updates to players who were hurt against the Broncos. Hopefully, we hear some good news about Musgrave’s status on Wednesday, when the team has to release a league-mandated injury report.
