We don’t know what GM Andrew Berry wants to do but mock draft simulator GMs have some interesting habits

The Cleveland Browns have one of if not the best fanbases in all of the NFL. The fans who read sites like ours, especially ours, are even more educated, have a more detailed understanding and inside information about their team.

While the Browns only have six selections, after Friday’s trade, in this year’s NFL draft, Cleveland fans are still highly engaged with the predraft run up including all the different mock drafts and mock draft simulators.

The Browns do not have immediate needs to be filled on the roster but have some interesting future needs coming up including at offensive tackle, defensive line and wide receiver. Interestingly enough, that is exactly what Cleveland fans have been focused on when using Pro Football Network’s Mock Draft simulator.

Thanks to the nice folks over at PFN, we have some data on Browns-related selections on their simulator. Given their lack of picks this year, it is not surprising that Cleveland was selected the third least of any team over the last week. The Chicago Bears, with the first and ninth pick, were used over 150,000 times while Cleveland was down around 13,500.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were last around 10,000 users of PFN’s simulator in the last week.

Browns fans selected the following positions the most often:

  • Defensive tackle – 18.87%
  • Linebacker – 12.68%
  • Offensive tackle – 12.59%
  • Wide receiver – 11.48%

Alongside kickers and punters, center, cornerback, quarterback and edge defenders were selected less than six percent of the time.

Given Cleveland’s offseason, defensive tackle could be a difficult place to find room for another player. Already, GM Andrew Berry has Dalvin Tomlinson, Shelby Harris, Maurice Hurst, Quinton Jefferson and Siaki Ika, last year’s third-round selection, at the position.

The five players selected most often for the Browns have some interesting names:

  • Kiran Amegadjie, OT, Yale
  • Michael Hall Jr., DT, Ohio State
  • Roger Rosengarten, OT, Washington
  • Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, Clemson
  • Ruke Orhorhoro, DT, Clemson

The linemen, on both sides of the ball, have often been linked to Cleveland while Trotter has a name many fans know while draft analysts have concerns about his game.

It is interesting that there are no wide receivers listed among the 13 most drafted players for the Browns. With such a deep class and a variety of players that could fit the team, would-be GMs had a lot of options. These five were the most selected for the team:

  • Xavier Legette, South Carolina
  • Devontez Walker, North Carolina
  • Malachi Corley, Western Kentucky
  • Luke McCaffrey, Rice
  • Ricky Pearsall, Florida

Now it is your turn, click here to go to PFN’s Mock Draft simulator and add your data to the mix. Our latest mock draft was created with their great tool which includes the ability to make trades for free.

Are you surprised by the positions that were focused on by Browns fans? Is there a player missing from the top five lists above that you expected would be there?
