Browns roster: Familiar face brought in for visit Tuesday before playoffs start

Herb Miller played 13 games for Cleveland the last two seasons

The Cleveland Browns are preparing to face off with the Houston Texans on Wild Card Saturday in the opening weekend of the NFL playoffs. While the team on the field prepares, GM Andrew Berry never stops looking to update the roster to be the best team possible.

With 10 players not practicing on Tuesday and a number of others limited, the Browns roster might need an influx of talent sooner than later. NFL free agency, like Berry, never stops.

According to the league’s transaction report, Cleveland brought in CB Herb Miller for a visit on Tuesday.

Miller played in 13 games for the Browns the last two seasons with 204 snaps on special teams, over 60% of Cleveland’s special teams reps. He combined for six tackles and one fumble recovery during his time with the Browns.

This offseason, Miller joined the Carolina Panthers but was waived during final cutdowns. He was signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad in October before being released during Week 17.

With a number of defensive backs either not practicing or limited this week, Miller could be added to help depth on special teams. While Miller is familiar with Cleveland, his special teams coach from the past few seasons, Mike Priefer, has been replaced by Bubba Ventrone.
