Buccaneers are signing cornerback Richard Sherman

The veteran cornerback announced his return to football.

After the Buccaneers 34-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, head coach Bruce Arians and general manager Jason Licht had seen enough of their secondary getting beat and beat often.

The Bucs are reportedly signing veteran cornerback Richard Sherman to help a Super Bowl championship defense that is struggling against the pass three games into their 2021 season. This news coming from Sherman himself on “The Richard Sherman Podcast”

Tampa Bay is currently without starting cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting who was lost to a dislocated elbow back in Week 1 for an extended period of time. The have tried to ride a mix of Ross Cockrell, Mike Edwards, and Jamel Dean in Week 2 and were going to do the same in Los Angeles but Dean left the game with a knee injury. Carlton Davis III had a bum hamstring heading into Week 2 against Atlanta so it seems like the hits have been circulating the secondary hard.

Sherman will have to clear NFL protocols before getting on the field with the Bucs so he may not be available until Week 5 when the Buccaneers play host to the Miami Dolphins in Raymond James Stadium.

UPDATE:

Sherman will be reportedly available for Week4’s game against the Patriots Sunday night.
