The Buccaneers have reached 80 players on their roster following the loss to the Tennessee Titans
Once again, following a Saturday night loss in preseason, the Buccaneers have made cuts to their roster, The Bucs trimmed five players to reach the 80 required by Tuesday. Per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, those players are running back Troymaine Pope, cornerback Nate Brooks, linebacker Quinton Bell, wide receiver T.J. Simmons, and safety Lawrence White IV;

Following a rather uninspired performance Saturday night, it’s hard to say that any of these are a surprise – although, Bell was a player that flashed against the Titans and I believe had a decent shot at making the team.
As I mentioned on the Locked On Bucs podcast, Nate Brooks’ glaring mistake to line up in the neutral zone on 3rd-and-2, giving the Titans a first down, was the kind of mistake that would prevent him from making the team during a steep competition for the fifth cornerback spot on the roster.
The Buccaneers now have until August 31 to get their 53-man roster set while also filling out a practice squad. On a team that had over thirty players sit out against the Titans – including 21 of 22 starters, with Alex Cappa being the lone exception – the bulk of the roster is relatively set. There are around thirty players fighting for three or four remaining open spots on the team.
Troymaine Pope likely saw the writing on the wall when he didn’t see the field last night due to injury. With Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette inactive, Ke’Shawn Vaughn got almost all the work – and didn’t impress much while doing so.
