Buccaneers vs Cowboys; Final injury report

Godwin’s appearance on the injury report Tuesday with a quad issue raised a few eyebrows, but all is well and he is not in danger of missing the season opener.</p> <p id="BfHUAg">The same, unfortunately, can not be said about Bucs safety Jordan Whitehead. Whitehead has missed significant time with a lingering hamstring issue that will cause him to miss the first week of the season. Mike Edwards will be starting in his place.</p> <p id="QuEWwT">At this stage, especially with something that can flare up at the drop of a hat like a hamstring, it’s best for the team and for Whitehead that he stay out until he is fully healthy. Racing back onto the field too soon can cause him to miss even more time than had he just waited to fully heal to begin with. Edwards has started games for this defense in the past and done a solid job so it won’t be a glaring weakness with him in the back end of the defense alongside Antoine Winfield Jr.</p> <p id="ZkSN16">For the Cowboys, they won’t have anyone missing the game due to injury but are still dealing with the COVID fallout from guard Zack Martin. All signs point to him not being able to clear that COVID protocol in time to play on Thursday - even with access to Jerry Jones’ private jet to fly him to Tampa should he get those negative tests that would allow him to be removed from the Reserve/COVID list.
