What kind of history is on the line when the Bucs play host to the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon?

After getting off to their fifth 5-1 start in franchise history, the Buccaneers will return home to Raymond James Stadium on Sunday for a late-afternoon matchup against the 3-3 Chicago Bears. When they do so, they’ll be looking to turn their recent record against the Bears on its head.

Tampa Bay has met Chicago seven times since the start of the 2011 season, compiling just a 2-5 record in that stretch. The Bears have won the last two contests in two very different ways, beating the Bucs 48-10 in 2018 before a narrow 20-19 win on Thursday Night Football last October. Sunday, however, will be the first time since Sept. 17, 2017 that the teams will be seeing each other at Raymond James Stadium. That day belonged to the Bucs, as they won 29-7 to open up the season after a hurricane postponed their scheduled season opener against the Dolphins the week before.

While Tampa Bay’s recent history with Chicago hasn’t been the best, its roster is full of players who seemingly continue to make the good kind of history on a weekly basis. Let’s take a look at what records and milestones may be on the line heading into this Week 7 game, shall we?

Career Passing Touchdowns

Brady has thrown for 57 touchdowns in his time with Tampa Bay, which is good for eighth-most in franchise history. He needs five more to pass Steve DeBerg (61) for seventh.

Career Pass Attempts

With 877 pass attempts in his Buccaneer career, Brady is just six away from moving ahead of Craig Erickson (882) for eighth-most in team history.

Career Completions

Brady has completed 584 passes as a Buc, which means he needs 230 more to pass Steve DeBerg (813) for seventh-most in team history.

Career Rushing Yards

Ronald Jones II has totaled 1,864 rushing yards in his career, which has him 13th on the Bucs’ all-time rushing yards list. With 76 more, he passes LeGarrette Blount (1,939) for 12th.

Career Rushing Touchdowns

Jones’ 15 rushing touchdowns have him tied with Lars Tate, Earnest Graham and Peyton Barber for ninth-most in franchise history. His next rushing score will pull him even with Ricky Bell (16) for eighth-most all-time.

Career Rush Attempts

Jones’ 418 rush attempts leave him just nine away from passing LeGarrette Blount (426) for 13th-most in Buccaneer history.

Career Receiving Yards

Last week, Chris Godwin passes Joey Galloway for sixth on the franchise’s all-time receiving yards list. With 3,949, Godwin is 352 away from passing Jimmie Giles (4,300) for fifth.

Career Receiving Touchdowns

Cameron Brate is stuck on 29 receiving touchdowns in his Buccaneer career, so he’s still two away from tying Kevin House (31) for third-most in team history.

Chris Godwin’s 26 receiving scores as a Buc land him seventh on the franchise’s all-time leaderboard. With one more, he ties Mark Carrier (27) for sixth, while two more would tie him with Joey Galloway (28) for fifth. He needs just three more to tie Brate for fourth.

With his touchdown catch against the Eagles in Week 6, O.J. Howard has 15 in his career. That gives him sole possession of 15th on Tampa Bay’s all-time receiving touchdowns list. He is one away from tying Reidel Anthony (16) for 14th.

Career Receptions

Chris Godwin’s 278 career catches are the 10th-most in Bucs history. He needs two more to pass Jimmie Giles (279) for ninth, while seven more will move him ahead of Michael Pittman (284) for eighth. With nine more, he passes Kevin House (286) for seventh.

Career Touchdowns (Total)

Mike Evans has 66 total touchdowns in his career, meaning he needs just six more to pass Mike Alstott (71) for the franchise record.

Consecutive Games With 100+ Scrimmage Yards

Leonard Fournette has gone over 100 scrimmage yards in three straight games. If he does it again on Sunday against Chicago, he will tie the fourth-longest streak of such games in franchise history. (Bucs Communications)

Career Sacks*

Shaquil Barrett is up to 32 sacks in his Buccaneer career, which means he needs just 1.5 more to pass Brad Culpepper (33) for seventh-most in team history.

Jason Pierre-Paul’s 31 sacks as a Buc leave him 1.5 away from passing Barrett for eighth-most in franchise history.

Lavonte David’s 24 career sacks have him 2.5 away from passing Greg Spires (26) for 12th and tying Broderick Thomas (26.5) for 11th.

*Sacks did not become an official stat until 1982.

Career Passes Defended*

David’s 53 passes defended are the sixth-most in franchise history. He is just two away from passing Aqib Talib (54) for fifth.

*Passes defended did not become an official stat until 1999.

Career Forced Fumbles

David is tied with Derrick Brooks for the most forced fumbles in team history (24). He needs one more to own the record for himself.

Career Punts Downed Inside the 20-Yard Line

Bradley Pinion had two punts downed inside the 20 against the Eagles last week, giving him 47 such punts during his time with the Bucs. He needs just two more to pass Dave Green (48) for ninth-most in team history. (Bucs Communications)

Career Games Played

If Lavonte David is able to return from his ankle injury on Sunday, he will be playing in his 143rd game as a Buc. That would leave him six away from passing Shelton Quarles (148) for eighth-most in franchise history.

Sunday will be William Gholston’s 126th game with Tampa Bay, which will leave him five away from passing Demar Dotson (130) for 13th-most in team history.

Career Starts

If Lavonte David is able to suit up and start against the Bears, it would mark his 143rd career start. That would leave him just three away from passing Tony Mayberry (145) for fourth-most in franchise history. (Bucs Communications)
