Bills on their way to another preseason win.

Through the first two quarters of their preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, the Buffalo Bills have checked just about every box:

  • Nearly spotless opening drive that finished with a 31-yard missile to Gabriel Davis for the touchdown
  • Goal-line stand to hold the Packers scoreless, capped by Tre’Davious White’s pass breakup
  • QB pressure from A.J. Epenesa leading to an end zone interception from Micah Hyde
  • 15-play drive ending in a touchdown pass to Zack Moss
  • Another goal-line stand, that ultimately saw the Packers botch a 28-yard field goal attempt to stay scoreless

The Bills played just about every starter for the majority of the first half, though Stefon Diggs (who recently recovered from an injury) wasn’t targeted. Meanwhile, the Packers were resting most of their starters, including Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, and Jaire Alexander. So a mismatch was to be expected here, and the Bills met expectations.

Allen finished the quarter 20-of-26 for 194 yards and two touchdowns. His leading receiver, Davis, had five catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. The team had five carries for 30 yards, though Moss also had two carries for 24 yards called back by holding penalties.

Buffalo hasn’t landed any sacks yet, but they’ve still held Jordan Love and the rest of the Packers’ offense in check. Greg Rousseau joined A.J. Epenesa recording a couple QB pressures in this one, and A.J. Klein had a key TFL near the end zone.

The only negative to note here came from Epenesa, who’s playing long snapper today with starter Reid Ferguson sidelined with a back injury. Epenesa had a bad snap on the team’s second extra point, which led to an aborted kick.

Here’s your discussion thread for the second half of the game. Let’s look for the backup Bills to build the lead!
