Buffalo Bills receiver Cole Beasley puts NFLPA on blast over recent COVID-19 agreement

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley is not happy he will need to abide by the 2020 rules regarding COVID-19 if he wishes to remain unvaccinated. On Thursday afternoon, he went after the NFL Players Association and folks responding to him on Twitter with a flurry of tweets.

Just to be clear, there are no sanctions against unvaccinated NFL players, but there are new benefits to being fully vaccinated.

“This is crazy. Did we vote on this?” asked Beasley, quote-tweeting Tom Pelissero off NFL Network, who covered all the changes on Wenesday.

“I stay in the hotel. We still have meetings. We will all be together,” continued Beasley. “Vaccinated players can go out the hotel and bring covid back in to where I am. So what does it matter if I stay in the hotel now?”

Last year, players were stuck in team hotels when on the road and couldn’t visit family, go out to restaurants or bars, or see the town. In 2021, vaccinated players will be able to resume normal travel patterns both during game week and on the team’s bye. That includes being able to see the sights and sounds on a Friday night. Unvaccinated players will be confined to their hotel rooms.

Beasley is seemingly hung up on the fact that players who have the COVID-19 vaccine can still test positive for COVID-19.

“100 percent immune with vaccination? No,” said Beasley before continuing in a subsequent Tweet. “Everyone gives me the 98 percent of people who are vaccinated don’t get covid again. The odds of me getting in the NFL and playing for 10 years are lower than that and I’m here.”

Then Beasley turned his attention to the NFLPA, who agreed to the rule changes with the NFL. He said his union wasn’t sticking up for him or the rest of the players, even though the announcement was about lifting restrictions on players.

“The players association is a joke. Call it something different. It’s not for the players.” said Beasley.

“So what are we really talking about?” continued Beasley. “I understand completely why the NFL is doing this. It gives them back the freedom to make the most money as possible again if everyone is vaccinated. But will anyone fight for the players or nah?”
