They say good things come to those who wait. Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley may be putting that theory to the test. The Jets lost to the Atlanta Falcons 13-8 in Week 13, dropping their fifth straight game to fall to 4-8 and wasted yet another strong defensive performance from Mosley and company.

After the game, Mosley was asked about the Jets having the same issues this year causing them to lose as they did last year, namely the offense. Mosley said, “It’s out of my control.” Mosley added that he still believes in the Jets organization, things will eventually click for the team and “it will all be worth it.”

Mosley, the Jets’ defensive captain, had five tackles in Week 13. He has a team-leading 120 tackles this season and 450 tackles in four seasons with the Jets and was named Second-Team All-Pro last season and went to his 5th Pro Bowl. Mosley also recently reached 1,000 career tackles.

Mosley said the message this week was “control what you can control” and added the defense and special teams did their part. “The result is what it was.”

Without actually saying it, Mosley was pointing the finger at the offense. Still, Mosley is committed to the Jets and bringing them back to contention. In 2024, Mosley will enter the final year of his five-year contract he signed in 2019. He’ll be 32 years old but is still playing as one of the better linebackers in the NFL. He wants to see things click for the Jets, but time may be running out, making 2024 an important year for both Mosley and the Jets organization.
