The Panthers struggling rookie is done for the season
The Carolina Panthers have sent rookie guard Chandler Zavala to injured reserve and signed veteran guard Gabe Jackson to the practice squad.

Zavala injured his knee Sunday in the loss against the Tennessee Titans. Cade Mays, who had been starting in place of Austin Corbett (also back on injured reserve as of last week), also left the game with an ankle injury. Mays has not been placed on IR, but the team has also not given a timeline for his return to play. That leaves the team dangerously short handed at a position group that has already been struggling with depth and performance issues.
Enter Jackson. He is a 32-year old veteran who has been in the league since the then Oakland and now Las Vegas Raiders made him a third round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent seven years with the Raiders and then the last two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Between his two prior teams, he started 130 out of his 131 career games. The Panthers are the first team he has signed with this season.
