The Chargers need more running backs and George Holani could very well be a late-round flier for LA.
The reports of Chargers meeting with running back prospects expected to come off the board on day three continue with just one day to go until the 2024 NFL Draft’s opening night.
Per Justin Melo of The Draft Network, the Chargers met with Boise State running back George Holani during the team’s local pro day.. Holani played five seasons with the Broncos and ended his career with 3,596 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns. He also caught 88 passes for 777 yards and an additional eight scores.

At 5’10 and 208 pounds, Holani plays with a one-cut style of running that maximizes his power getting downhill as fast as possible. He ran a very respectable time of 4.52 in the 40-yard dash but his most-impressive mark from the combine was his 39-inch vertical which landed amongst the top three at his position.
That lower body strength can be seen throughout his film as he exhibited notable contact balance, even when receiving hits from multiple angles at once. He’ll also likely find time in a third-down role thanks to his ability as a stout pass protector. It’s also a plus that he showed fairly soft hands and the occasional tough-catch ability when needed.
The Chargers are seemingly poised to take at least one running back in this week’s draft, but it remains to be see if they’d be willing to pounce on one of the top backs should they fall or wait until day three to find a project with developable traits.
George Holani is absolutely one of the top RBs in the country
