I’m glad that’s over.

Brandon Staley made it known prior to the team’s first preseason game that the majority of the starters were not going to see the field during the month of August. Ahead of Saturday’s preseason finale against the Seahawks, pregame warmups painted a pretty clear picture that absolutley none of the one’s would be seeing any snaps.

Despite knowing this, the team’s performance against the Seahawks was nonetheless abysmal as the Chargers fell 27-0 at Lumen Field in Seattle.

Chase Daniel got the start but Easton Stick played the majority of the game after the former was hit hard on the first drive of the game. That same play led to a Seahawks “fumble recovery” for a touchdown as the defense plucked the loose ball out of the air following the hit on Daniel and ran it back.

Stick finished with 10 completions on 16 pass attempts for 76 yards. He also added 10 yards on three carries. Larry Rountree led the ground game with 27 yards on six carries while Tyron Johnson paced the team with 41 yards through the air. Michael Bandy led the team with five receptions.

On defense, Nick Niemann and Chris Rumph each recorded a sack while Niemann recorded a team-high 13 stops.

As for the kicking game, Tristan Vizcaino missed the team’s only attempt from 47 yards. Due to the offense’s inability to sustain a drive, the kickers saw little opportunity to help sway the coaching staff in their favor.

With the preseason now over, the Chargers will turn their attention to Washington. That week one matchup will take place two weeks from tomorrow on September 12.
