Allen gets the initial respect he deserves in this year’s Madden.

Keenan Allen has a love-hate relationship with the game of Madden. Behind Derwin James, he’s probably the biggest fanatic for the game on the Chargers despite having his fair share of issues with the ratings adjustors behind his numbers.

When Madden 20 came out prior to the 2019 season, Allen was publicly distraught about his less-than-stellar deep route running rating. After showing off his skills of getting deep in a joint practice with the Rams, the ratings adjustors raised his rating in that category.

Last year during the summer, Allen was asked a question regarding the game once more and he proceeded to call the game “trash” and confess that he doesn’t play that anymore. Just a few weeks later, however, he was partaking in a Madden tournament put on by The Checkdown where he played alongside James and other NFL players.

So not unlike the rest of those who play Madden, when the game is good to you, you love it. When it’s not being so kind, it’s the worst thing in the world.

Luckily this year, the ratings adjustors gave Allen the respect he deserves amid their initial wide receiver rankings by giving him an overall rating of 93, good for the seventh-best receiver in the game. Notable players behind him in the top 10 include Mike Evans and Allen Robinson.

For those who play Madden, what do you think of Allen’s initial rating? Should it be higher? Is it right where it needs to be? How high do you think Allen can climb if he combines with Justin Herbert to have a career year?
