The Bolts make a move for the better.

It looks like the Chargers will be making a move at kicker after all.

On Tuesday evening, the team announced the signing of former Washington kicker Dustin Hopkins. In a corresponding move, the team waived Tristan Vizcaino who has missed a league-high five PATs so far this season.

Hopkins was released by Washington after kicking in 93 total games for the team from 2015-2021. He left as the team’s leader in field goal percentage (84.0) and made 13 field goals of over 50 yards during that span. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick by the Bills in 2013.

Through six games this season with Washington, Hopkins has converted 12-of-14 attempts with one of those attempts coming from 50+ yards. He’s also converted 10 of his 12 extra- point attempts.

Hopkins has only one season in his career where he’s finished with a field goal percentage under 81.0 percent and he’s currently on pace this year to record his second-best mark in that category with a 85.7.
