The Chargers didn’t wait until the end of the 2023 season to start looking for reinforcements in 2024.
For those who pay attention to the Canadian Football League, this is probably old news, but I’m assuming it went under the radar by most here, including me.
Several days before Christmas, it was reported by 3DownNation.com that the CFL’s interceptions leader, Winnipeg Blue Bombers cornerback Demerio Houston, had worked out for the Chargers. Starting today, CFL players are now eligible to sign reserve/futures contracts with NFL teams, meaning we could be in store for a bit of news in that regard in the near future.
This is the first day CFL players can sign reserve/futures contracts with NFL teams.
Players and workouts to date:

The 5’10, 173-pounder has played three seasons for the Blue Bombers but he finally had his breakout season in 2023 where he recorded career-highs of 50 total tackles, seven interceptions, and one pick taken back for a touchdown. He was also named a CFL All-Star for the first time in his career. In 2021, he played in a backup role during the Blue Bomber’s run to the Grey Cup Championship.
