The quarterback remained coy about his future plans during his golf match against Tom Brady

As the Summer of Rodgers drags on, the estranged Green Bay Packers quarterback had an opportunity to provide more insight into his situation during his televised golf match against Tom Brady.

The result? Words came out of Rodgers’ mouth but he said nothing.

The jokes about the situation with the Packers flowed like water during “The Match” but Rodgers gave no hints on his plans for the upcoming season simply saying “I don’t know” when asked if he’d suit up for Green Bay this season.

It’s just another quote in a conga line of vagueness from the three-time NFL MVP. At this point, it’s fairly clear he’s playing the national media like a harp knowing they’ll eat up every word in false hope of breaking the story that will end this childish dance.

The fans, meanwhile, are the ones truly being tortured by Rodgers’ little game. After worshipping the ground the quarterback walked on for years, Rodgers apparently has decided to show his appreciation by mentioning how he has been working on himself whilst also drawing a line right through his team’s passionate fan base.

At this point everyone (fans, the media, the Packers) are just pawns on Rodgers’ board and perhaps only he knows when this game will move from a stalemate. He doesn’t have many options besides retiring to put Green Bay in check.

Will the start of training camp be the checkmate? Time will tell.

“The Match” was just the latest opportunity for Rodgers to continue what is either a world-class troll job or a bitter and public divorce from the Packers. With camp opening in three weeks, we still have no idea what he’s going to do and it has to be bg design at this point.

There is indeed a lot of wisdom in silence but how far can Rodgers push this? Would he or could he repeat Brett Favre’s dramatic Family Night appearance? Regardless, we aren’t in a much different situation than we were on draft night it seems.
