As the regular season draws closer, Chicago’s offensive line gets a big lift.

The Bears’ offensive line enjoyed good news Monday morning as starting right tackle Germain Ifedi was activated off of the PUP list, according to The Bear Report’s Zack Pearson.

The 27-year-old veteran Ifedi had been sidelined with a hip injury for the entirety of training camp to this point. Head coach Matt Nagy maintained that Ifedi had passed a recent physical and was ready to return to action.

Ifedi started all 16 games for the Bears last year, with appearances at both right guard and right tackle. After such a mark of availability (and perhaps a lack of options), Chicago re-signed Ifedi to a one-year, $5 million deal this past off-season, locking him in as a starter until further notice for at least the 2021 season.

Ifedi’s return is well-timed as it coincides with recent acquisition Jason Peters’ integration into the Bears’ offense and the return of starting left guard James Daniels’ from a quad injury. As such, Monday was the first time all training camp that the Bears had their entire projected offensive line participating together. A little more stability and consistency might go a long way for a team with rampant offensive line issues.
