Things have certainly changed over the last year for the Bears’ quarterback situation, going from Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles to Justin Fields and Andy Dalton.

At one point last season, Foles came off the bench and executed an impressive comeback victory against the Falcons, where it appeared things were finally looking up for the Bears offense. Only, that Falcons game was the best it was with Foles.

Now, Chicago is stuck with Foles and his $17.32 million cap hit spread out over the next two years. Which is why it’s not surprising the Bears are continuing to shop Foles.

According to Albert Breer, the Bears are listening to trade offers to Foles — but they’d only send him somewhere he wants to go.

“The Bears will listen on Nick Foles, but I’ve also long gotten the sense they aren’t going to send him somewhere he doesn’t want to go.”

The Colts seemed like a prime destination for Foles given his experience with head coach Frank Reich. But the history with Foles and Carson Wentz, who was traded to Indianapolis earlier this offseason, pretty much made that an impossible situation.

When looking at other potential landing destinations, the Jets still don’t have an established veteran behind No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson. But it’s unclear whether they’d be willing to pull the trigger on that deal.

Foles has a base salary of $4 million, which is fully guaranteed. But if a team took Foles on, they’d be on the hook for another $5 million in guarantees next season.

If Chicago was able to trade Foles, it would free up $4 million in cap space. And if the Bears can’t find a trade partner, Foles will remain on the roster given it would cost more to cut Foles than to keep him on the roster, where he currently has a cap hit of $6.66 million.
