The Browns reduced their roster from 85 to 80 players ahead of Tuesday’s NFL-mandated deadline.

On Monday, the Cleveland Browns reduced their roster from 85 to 80 players. Every team in the league is required to get down to 80 players by Tuesday at 4:00 PM ET.

Placed on reserve/injured:

  • Tight end Connor Davis (shoulder)
  • Linebacker Montrel Meander (Achilles)
  • Kicker Cody Parkey (quad)

Waived:

  • Wide receiver Alexander Hollins
  • *Offensive tackle Alex Taylor (ankle)

*injury designation

The biggest hit is losing Parkey, who while having the occasional issue, still connected on 19-of-22 field goals in 15 regular-season games and didn’t miss on three postseason field goal attempts in 2020. He was also perfect on eight extra points in the postseason after making 43-of-47 in the regular season.

It was also a tough break for Meander, who just signed with the team on Friday after the Browns lost linebackers Jacob Phillips to a torn bicep tendon and Sione Takitaki to a hamstring injury.

The Browns’ next roster cuts are due August 31, when every team must be down to the final 53-man roster just two days after the final preseason game.
