The Chicago Bears have quietly been building their offense this offseason, adding some key additions to the roster that could help take this unit to the next level.

The Bears’ biggest offensive move was acquiring wide receiver Keenan Allen in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers, pairing him with fellow 1,000-yard receiver DJ Moore.

Chicago also added some key pieces in running back D’Andre Swift — who joins Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson — and tight end Gerald Everett — who will complement Cole Kmet.

Speaking of Kmet, he believes the Bears could pose some problems for opposing defenses with a potential “pretty explosive offense” in 2024.

“I still think we’ll be able to establish ourselves in the run game, so when you’ve got that going with all the different pass options, it makes it very difficult for a defense,” Kmet said, via ChicagoBears.com. “If they’re going to play cover-two, I think we’ll be able to run the ball really well just like we’ve done in the past. And if they decide to go single safety, they can’t cover everybody. So there will be a lot of great options there, and I’m really excited about that.”

The one piece that isn’t official just yet is rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, who will be selected by Chicago with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. It’s all but guaranteed at this point.

Williams, replacing the departed Justin Fields, also happens to be coming into the best situation for a No. 1 rookie quarterback, well, ever. Not only does he have a slew of weapons, but the Bears have a potential top-five defense and a new QB-friendly offensive coordinator in Shane Waldron.

After looking at the success C.J. Stroud had with the Texans as a rookie last year, it’s not a huge stretch to wonder if Williams can find similar success, especially in a favorable position.
