The Indianapolis Colts are among the favorites to select Georgia tight end Brock Bowers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

According to BETMGM, the Colts have the second-best odds at +400 to land the top tight end in the draft class. The Jets have the best odds at +150, with the Bengals third at +550 and the Chargers fourth at +750.

Tight end certainly isn’t the Colts’ biggest positional need, but if Bowers were available at pick 15, you have to think that would be difficult for GM Chris Ballard to pass up.

At least right away, Bowers’ greatest impact is going to come in the passing game, adding another dynamic presence to the Colts’ offense, which is needed.

At Georgia, Bowers would move around the formation, playing in-line, from the slot, and on the boundary. He would catch almost 80 percent of his 224 career targets with 26 touchdowns and was excellent after the catch with the ball in his hands.

In what isn’t a very deep tight end class, Bowers is easily the best of the group and would be considered a top tight end prospect in any draft class.

What could push Bowers to the Colts at pick 15 is the fact that he is a tight end, which isn’t considered one of the premier positions in football.

On top of that, some of the positions that are considered to be at a premium, such as offensive tackle, cornerback, and receiver, are all very deep in this year’s class–not to mention that it looks like a minimum of four quarterbacks will be taken before the Colts are on the clock.

So even though Bowers is the overall seventh rated prospect on Daniel Jeremiah’s big board, those aforementioned factors could have him being taken later than what his talent level suggests.

Couple that element with the Colts in search of more playmaking on offense for their young quarterback Anthony Richardson, and the recipe is there for them to be among the favorites to land Bowers.
