The Colts have hosted TC safety Millard Bradford on an official pre-draft visit, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network.

As part of the pre-draft process, each team is permitted to have 30 official visits, where prospects are able to spend time at the team facility.

Bradford measures in at 5-10 – 191 pounds and posted a Relative Athletic Score of 8.31, which included a 4.42-second 40-yard dash and a nearly 39-inch vertical.

Bradford played 2,186 snaps over his five seasons at TCU and was a regular starter for the last three. Of his total snaps, 693 came in the box, 681 came as a free safety, and 712 in the slot.

He’s had some inconsistencies as a tackler, missing 16.8 percent of his career attempts, which for some context, that figure in 2023 would have ranked 194th this past season. He has, however, been a willing run defender, grading out fairly well in  that regard by PFF’s metrics.

In coverage, Millard allowed a career completion rate of 67 percent and 12.9 yards per catch. He would total four interceptions and 15 pass breakups.

Also of note, Millard is a very experienced special teams player with 562 career snaps.

For more on Millard’s game, here is what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote in his pre-draft report:

“Stocky safety lacking the length and speed to make easy scheme projections for him. Bradford’s inconsistencies as a tackle finisher will be a disqualifier for some teams. In coverage, he plays with good field recognition and is fairly athletic in man coverage but lacks the length and burst to make enough plays on the football. His physical limitations could make it an uphill battle to stick on a roster.”

The Colts have both short-term and long-term unknowns at the safety position. Julian Blackmon’s return provides some stability but he is only back for the 2024 season.

Presumably, Nick Cross and Rodney Thomas will be competing for the other starting safety spot, both of whom come with some question marks. Cross is relatively inexperienced, while Thomas surrendered over 21 yards per catch last season.

Other safeties currently on the roster are Kendell Brooks, Marcel Dabo, Trevor Denbow, Michael Tutsie, and Daniel Scott, most of whom haven’t played a regular-season NFL snap.

As Zierlein mentions, Millard could have a hard time making an NFL roster. His best path to doing so is going to have to be as a special teams contributor.

Millard is likely a late Day 3 pick or will be signed as an undrafted rookie.
