Colts’ Injury Report: Five Starters Ruled Out; Wentz, Taylor, Doyle and Glowinski Officially ‘Questionable’

The Colts release their injury report, which includes four starters being ruled out, ahead of their Week 4 matchup against Miami.

The Indianapolis Colts released their final injury report ahead of the team’s Week 4 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Five starters have officially been ruled out for Sunday’s game, including guard Quenton Nelson (ankle/knee), defensive end Kwity Paye (hamstring), Braden Smith (foot/thumb), Khari Willis (ankle/groin), and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (knee).

Nelson, who has started every game since being drafted back in 2018, will miss his first regular season game as a pro. Paye left last Sunday’s game against Tennessee and will also miss his first game as a pro. Expect both Tyquan Lewis and Kemoko Turay to see snaps in place of Paye. Smith is missing a third straight game, which means either Julien Davenport or Matt Pryor will take his place at right tackle.

Head coach Frank Reich also provided further analysis on both Nelson and Smith’s injuries.

According to Kevin Bowen, a Colts writer for 1075 The Fan, Nelson has a high ankle sprain and there’s a possibility he plays next week against Baltimore. Bowen also added that Smith has a sprained foot and it “ended up being on the longer end than what they were hoping for.”

Willis and Ya-Sin, meanwhile, will be replaced by veteran safety Andrew Sendejo and second-year cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, according to Zak Keefer, a writer for The Athletic.

Additionally, quarterback Carson Wentz (ankles), tight end Jack Doyle (back), guard Mark Glowinski (knee) and running back Jonathan Taylor (knee) are all listed as ‘questionable.’

We saw how limited Indy’s offense was during their matchup against the Titans last week, but given the severity of Sunday’s game, I’d be surprised if all four questionable starters don’t play.

Both the Colts and Dolphins are going to be down multiple starters in key areas, but Indy should absolutely look at this matchup as a must-win. The team already finds itself in a tough spot after an 0-3 start, and losing to the Jacoby Brissett-led Dolphins Sunday would even further dampen the team’s chances at making the playoffs.
