After 3 months of being away, Colts players and coaches have reported back to team headquarters for Phase I of offseason workouts this week.

Some familiar faces reported back to the Colts headquarters this week, as the team begins week 1 of its 8-week offseason program.

While this initial week of offseason workouts will be limited to team meetings, strength, and conditioning, the Colts will eventually hit the practice football field for OTAs in late May (beginning the week of May 22nd) and veteran minicamp following soon thereafter (June 4-6th).

Obviously, a lot of things can change from now until Colts training camp (*July 25-August 31), particularly as it relates to the prospect haul from Indianapolis’s much anticipated 2024 draft class in late April—and if general manager Chris Ballard still has a free agency slash left up his sleeve, perhaps regarding bringing in a veteran safety or cornerback.

However, for me. all eyes have to be on Anthony Richardson, as the Colts’ potential 2024 success and any deep AFC playoff run largely rests on the health of his surgically repaired right throwing shoulder—which unfortunately cut his tantalizing rookie season too short.

Early signs have been highly encouraging that Richardson is all the way back after undergoing a rigorous rehab program. However, having learned the hard way from the lingering injury history of former franchise quarterback (now retired) Andrew Luck, the Colts will be absolutely cautious with their latest prized young quarterback.

Otherwise, it’ll be interesting to see what changes from now until the end of offseason workouts, as there could be significant additions/reinforcements for the Colts at wide receiver/tight end, cornerback, or safety, among other key positions.
