Colts Madden-style player ratings – Week 7

The Madden ratings series is back for a 2nd season!!! In this series on Stampede Blue, I’m going to break down each player on a 50-100 Madden-style scale each week to help identify and illustrate which players are the best and most valuable players on the team. Please take note that these are current values and don’t take into account the value or future potential (or regression) of a player. Here is a breakdown of the tiers:

Tiers

95 to 100 — One of the 3 or 4 best players at his position in the NFL

90 to 94 — An elite, top 10 NFL player at his position in the NFL

85 to 89 — A borderline elite player who will make plenty of plays in each game

80 to 84 — An above-average starter

75 to 79 — An average starter who won’t hurt you

70 to 74 — An average starter who should only be used in small spurts

65 to 69 — A below-average starter and above-average backup

60 to 64 — An average backup

60 or below — A borderline roster player

Biggest Risers

Carson Wentz

Wentz is getting better and better every week. His game against the Texans was his best to date as he made some extremely difficult throws and threw dots down the field to Hilton and Campbell. He’s looking more and more like the long-term answer at QB.

Isaiah Rodgers

Rodgers had a great game, capped off with a nice interception, but he’s clearly getting more comfortable at cornerback and might be a good rotational option for team moving forward.

Biggest Fallers

Xavier Rhodes

Rhodes has been picked on more and more recently; he was targeted 7 times in the game and allowed 5 catches. They weren’t all on him, but it’s clear he’s not as sharp as he was last year and he’s struggling carrying the load of being a #1 cornerback. Let’s see if that changes as the season goes on.

Al-Quadin Muhammed

In a week where you win by 28 and essentially pitch perfect games on both sides of the ball, you won’t have too many fallers, but AQM missing a few tackles and not being a huge presence on the edge with a great matchup shows he’s slowly creeping into average backup territory.
