The Colts made some roster maneuvers following a tough loss to the Tennessee Titans.

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that the team has promoted both safety Josh Jones and running back Deon Jackson from the practice squad, while placing Tyquan Lewis on injured reserve and waiving quarterback Brett Hundley—who was later re-signed to the team’s practice squad:

Jones promotion was reported earlier in the day, as was Lewis’s season-ending knee injury, which would eventually require his placement on injured reserve.

Jackson was promoted to the 53-man active roster for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans—as fellow backup running back Jordan Wilkins was surprisingly released earlier in the weekend. Jackson, a Colts’ priority undrafted rookie free agent signing out of Duke, will now be there full-time following his latest roster addition.

Meanwhile, it appears as though the Colts are comfortable rolling with rookie Sam Ehlinger as the primary backup quarterback behind starter Carson Wentz—and that could be as a result of their season continuing to snowball at 3-5.

Perhaps the Colts are looking to use the veteran Hundley’s 53-man roster spot on a younger player—or more of a position of need entirely (especially in the secondary or along the defensive line—where they’re increasingly banged up).
