There’s another encouraging update regarding the surgically repaired shoulder of franchise quarterback Anthony Richardson.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Anthony Richardson feels like he’s a ‘full go’ beginning offseason work and with OTAs officially kicking off in a few weeks:

“This is progressing really well. I’m told (Anthony) Richardson feels he’s full go at this point,” noted ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on SportsCenter per Bleacher Report. “He’s been throwing for a while now. He’s gradually grown to where he can throw full-time with minimal restrictions. The Colts could be deliberate. They could hold him out for OTAs, 11-man work, minicamp, but the feeling is he wants to get started.”

Of course, the Colts provided a brief look on Monday afternoon, as Richardson could be seen ripping the football to lead wideout Michael Pittman Jr. in a workout:

While his rookie season was cut short because of a season-ending shoulder injury—which required surgery, the early returns for the former 2023 4th overall pick were tantalizing. Richardson showcased his dynamic dual-threat ability, completing 50 of 84 pass attempts (59.5%) for 577 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception, while also amassing 4 rushing touchdowns during his first four starts.

To their credit, the Colts did their part in the recent NFL Draft to further support Richardson’s growth and development, selecting talented Texas wideout AD Mitchell in the second round, and then two offensive linemen, Matt Goncalves and Tanor Bortolini, back-to-back in Rounds 3 and 4 respectively.

However, perhaps, the biggest difference for Richardson this season could be who’s next to him behind center, star workhorse Jonathan Taylor. The pairing only got to play all of 2 snaps together last season, as Taylor began the season on PUP, before Richardson was unfortunately lost for the season thereafter. The RPO game could be lethal for Indianapolis next season against opposing defenses, keeping them off-balance and with wide running lanes to feast off of.

All offseason we have heard that Richardson has been ‘ahead of schedule,’ but the Colts and Richardson have been cautious with his timeline and not rushed his return. However, it sounds like the Colts franchise quarterback’s surgically repaired shoulder is 100% back—which is great news for the 2024 campaign and beyond.
