Quarterback Jacob Eason has now strung together multiple impressive training camp practices. On Wednesday, Eason went 10-13 with a touchdown and an interception.

It should be noted, though, that wide receiver Zach Pascal slipped on the pass which was intercepted by cornerback Isaiah Rodgers.

As the young quarterback gets more reps under his belt, his confidence continues to grow. It shows up in practice. And while there are times where Eason struggles a bit going through his progressions, some of the throws he made during Wednesday’s practice were ones that many NFL quarterbacks can only dream of making.

There’s no questioning Eason’s arm talent. But having a strong arm is only half the battle as a quarterback. The 23-year-old will have to continue making positive strides with his accuracy, which he’s done thus far since taking over as the starting quarterback.

When Eason gets in a rhythm, though, his raw talent and instincts take over and are on full display. Where the young quarterback really stood out during Wednesday’s practice was in red zone drills. One play stands out in particular, as Eason found rookie wideout Mike Strachan in the back of the end zone. The ball was thrown well enough to where the defender had no chance at intercepting it, and Strachan, as he’s done all camp long, made another impressive grab.

The Colts will travel to Minnesota to play the Vikings on Saturday, August 21. According to Zak Keefer, a writer for The Athletic, “Colts will give most of their starters a go Saturday vs the Vikings. Sam Ehlinger will go the entire first half at QB.”

That said, the team could get an opportunity to see how Eason looks with the rest of the starters during live, in-game action for the first time.

Many believe Eason has already secured the starting quarterback spot until Carson Wentz is healthy enough to return to the starting lineup, A strong performance on Saturday will not only help the quarterback’s confidence continue to grow, but further prove that he’s the right man for the starting quarterback job for the time being.
