The Indianapolis Colts signed running back Trey Sermon in free agency, the team announced Thursday.
Sermon was a restricted free agent this offseason and while the Colts had the opportunity to apply one of the tenders to keep him off the market, they decided to wait until the new league year officially arrived.
Sermon only played 108 snaps on offense for the Colts in 2023, taking 35 carries for 160 rushing yards.
The Colts have Jonathan Taylor leading the backfield, and there’s a good chance the front office adds more competition to the room before training camp.
For now, Sermon will join Taylor, Evan Hull and Tyler Goodson in the Colts backfield.
