If you believe you can get it done, you can get it done.

The last time the Denver Broncos had multiple back-to-back losing seasons, it took the Dale Carnegie philosophy of positive thinking from then-Coach John Ralston to pull them out of it. While you won’t see Vic Fangio sneaking into offensive huddles like Ralston did, Fangio does seem to be having a similar effect on these 2021 Denver Broncos.

Offensively, the Broncos believe they can score and, in the opening two games of the season, they have. Against the New York Giants, Melvin Gordon believed he could. Against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Courtland Sutton knew he could to the tune of a career day. There is something different with this Broncos offense and it all starts with the gent under center. Teddy Bridgewater has shown himself out as a calm, confident, and reliable competitor. That confidence is infectious and has revitalized an offense that has recently been a shambling embarrassment.

Defensively, the swagger is back. Without having to drag the offense’s lifeless body up and down the field, the Denver D can now focus on playing some of their best football Broncos Country has seen in years. Turnovers are back! Pressure is generating sacks! The defense is no longer a winded unit who spends its time either on the field or sucking oxygen because of their time on the field.

Most importantly, the confidence among fans is back. In New York and Jacksonville, the stands were popping with orange. What better than that? When the game is so out of hand that the local fans bail leaving only Broncos Country behind in blazing orange.

John Ralston’s greatest contribution to Broncos Country was instilling the belief that Denver could win football games. It was a legacy that set a standard of excellence that persisted for decades. Vic Fangio’s 2021 Broncos might just be resetting that tone… for all of us.
