This is a gut-wrencher for fans of the Seattle Seahawks.

After not playing as much as a preseason snap for Seattle, four years later, Malik McDowell has found a home on an opening day roster.

McDowell hype picked up throughout the summer, culminating in some significant film attention from some of his preseason games. It should be noted that the Cleveland Browns actually have a defensive line that is not inept, and he looks to be a meaningful addition to their front.

For fans that have emotionally maintained for four years that McDowell was a terrible pick and a blight upon GM John Schneider’s decision making, it’s hard to back that up from a football standpoint.

It remains one of the most truly unfortunate series of events of the last five years that Seattle could not find a way to get McDowell healthy and stay on the team. But questioning his football acumen makes no sense at this point.

And so it is, that Schneider’s first pick of the 2017 draft is making his way in the world somewhere else, alongside Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney.

The Seahawks do not play the Browns in the regular season this year.
