Cowboys will reportedly put in a bid to host the scouting combine

The Underwear Olympics could be coming to Dallas.

When Jerry Jones built AT&T Stadium and The Star, he was always going to try and bring new events to those facilities. According to the Dallas Morning News, he’s got his eye on another event.

Since 1987, the NFL has held the annual scouting combine for the draft in Indianapolis. 2022 will be the last time that will definitely be the case. The NFL has decided to move the scouting combine around, much like they decided to with the draft, and the Cowboys are expected to put in a bid. The 2023 scouting combine will be the first one to be held outside of Indianapolis since 1987.

Perhaps no team is better situated to host the combine at their facilities than the Cowboys. Obviously they have a massive football stadium where the event could take place, but they also have The Star, which features medical facilities, meeting rooms and a hotel.

College prospects could do physicals at Baylor Scott and White Sports Therapy and Research at The Star and even conduct workouts at the Cowboys’ facility across the street. The Cowboys practice facility has two outdoor football fields and the Ford Center, where high school games are played, also has a football field.

Of course, the Cowboys might have all workouts at AT&T Stadium, which is similar to what Indianapolis does with Lucas Oil Stadium, where the Colts play their games.

The NFL is always looking for ways to showcase their events and create a competition to host them, much like the draft that was recently opened up for bids. The Cowboys hosted the 2018 Draft at AT&T Stadium and have also hosted a Super Bowl. Now, they’d like to add a scouting combine to that list.
