The Chicago Bears are going to have a new quarterback under center next season. The Bears have traded Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick that could turn into a fourth-round pick if he plays 51% of the snaps this season.

Fields was selected with the No. 11 overall pick three years ago and had moments of brilliance while quarterbacking the Bears. He displayed elite athleticism and became one of the league’s most exciting players thanks to his running ability. In 2022, Fields became just the third quarterback to break 1,000 rushing yards in a single season. Last year, Fields took steps as a passer, but he still showed limitations. He finished the year with 2,562 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, for a quarterback rating of 86.3. Fields also rushed for 657 yards and four touchdowns.

Even through the good times and the bad, the belief in Fields from his teammates never wavered. Seemingly everyone in the locker room had his back and advocated on his behalf to stay as the team’s starting quarterback. When the news broke, a few players such as DJ Moore and Khalil Herbert took to social media to share their reactions. They understand the business, but clearly feel a certain way about the trade.
