Waller gives Tebow the opportunity to learn from one of the best at the position.

It looks like new Jaguars TE Tim Tebow has one believer amongst peers at his new position: Raiders TE and Pro Bowler Darren Waller.

Waller spoke to TMZ Sports about Tebow and said he would be “down” to be a mentor for the Jaguars TE. “If he thinks he can learn from me then I’d love to help him and help make his transition smoother,” Waller said.

If any tight end in the NFL knows about transitioning to the position, it’s Waller. Waller was drafted by the Ravens as a wide receiver in the 2015 NFL Draft, but moved to tight end once he landed with the Raiders. Once switching to his new position, Waller has posted consecutive 1,000+ yard seasons, including a season last year where he was named to the Pro Bowl after recording 107 catches and nine touchdowns.

Tebow is making the transition to tight end after being out of the NFL for eight seasons, but will have to do it without an invitation to “Tight End U,” a pass-catching summit held by the best TE’s in the league. 49ers All-Pro TE George Kittle explained that there “wasn’t enough room” for Tebow at the summit when he saw the higher response from around the league.

Waller was at the event, however, and has been in the same spot as Tebow. What Waller said helped him according to TMZ Sports is “finding any information I could from watching guys play or asking people when I moved.”

Waller told TMZ Sports that even if Tebow doesn’t take his advice, the Jaguars TE will succeed in the league. “Football is in his blood, so I feel like he’ll find a way. He’ll find a way. He’s physical, he’s athletic. So, I wish him nothing but the best going forward.”
